Sep 27. 2020 | New Resources!

Updated: Oct 6, 2020

COVID is challenging everyone, including all our fabulous teachers in school, at home and in the community.  We have TWO new lesson plans on FANLit that can be done in the classroom or at home – granola bars and refrigerator pickles!  These are located in ages 4-9 under ‘Teaching Resources’ in the ‘Food Skills’ tab.  These lessons were developed by University of Manitoba Human Nutritional Sciences student Avery Penner, and were reviewed by Human Ecology teacher Darren Fife (check him out on Instagram at mrfifehomeec)!

Stay tuned in coming weeks for new lessons for middle year ages – topics include general nutrition and the Food Guide, a unit focused on traditional Indigenous Manitoba foods (pickerel!), and another focused on critically evaluating food and nutrition information on social media!  All these are being developed and reviewed by Manitoba Human Ecology teachers and teacher candidates. As always, send an email if you have any questions or comments. Better yet, sign up at the top of this page to receive notifications of new posts announcing updates and new resources in FANLit!
